Franz Joseph and Michael Haydn. Ray and Dave Davies. Angus and Malcolm Young. Liam and Noel Gallagher. The history of rock 'n' roll is paved with sibling duos, and this March Break, the AGO welcomes Carmel and Zevon Ketchabaw, the brothers behind Lego Money, Toronto’s newest tween garage band sensation.
The boys hit the AGO on March 14 and March 21, fresh off a wave of good press, including a profile in The Globe & Mail, and a monthly residency at Toronto local bar Pennies. Classic rock lovers, they’ll be performing a mix of 60s rock songs and even a few originals.
In between school and catching the latest AGO exhibitions, Foyer caught up with the Ketchabaw brothers, ages 12 and 9 respectively, to ask about the allure of rock ‘n’ roll and what audiences can expect.
Foyer: Tell us about Lego Money's music and style — who or what inspires you?
Carmel & Zevon: Our sound is pure rock 'n' roll. Green Day and AC/DC are a big influence on us. This gig, though, has us really digging into The Beatles more. Nothing is more inspiring than a great crowd – that's just the best.
What prompted you to pick up drums and guitar?
Carmel: Honestly? My brother got to guitar first, so drums were what was left — and I never looked back.
Zevon: I just thought it looked incredibly cool, and my dad really got me into it. We really got going during COVID.
What makes a good rock song?
A chorus you can't get out of your head. Everything else can be wild and chaotic, but if that chorus hits, you've got something.
Do you have a favourite Beatles song?
Carmel: Back in the U.S.S.R. — it just explodes out of the speakers.
Zevon: Help! — there's so much more going on in that song than people give it credit for.
Who would you most love to play with and where?
Green Day, without question — on a full stage at Wembley Stadium. That's the dream right there, but second place would have to be Green Day in Toronto.
Don’t miss Lego Money, live in Walker Court, on March 14 and 21. They’ll perform two 30-minute sets each date, at 12 pm and 2 pm. These performances are free with the price of admission. For more information about March Break at the AGO, visit ago.ca/marchbreak2026
